Who typically chooses NDMG?
- CAPEX/Loan buyers: grant reduces capex and improves ROI.
- SaaS/PPA: usually the asset owner claims any grant; your tariff/fee reflects this in pricing.
2) TAMS 3 — Solar Capital Investment Scheme (for Farms)
What it is
A ring-fenced farm solar scheme under TAMS 3 with an investment ceiling and enhanced grant rate.
Key terms (current)
- Grant rate: 60% on eligible costs.
- Investment ceiling: €90,000 per holding (scheme-specific ceiling).
- Minimum eligible application amount: €2,000.
- Selection criteria apply; limited funding; online application via agfood; approvals issued per tranche.
- No double-funding: You must confirm you haven’t sought other national/EU funding for the same items.
- Eligible items include PV modules, inverters, mounting, cabling, and related items listed in Annexes (batteries may be eligible subject to scheme rules/specs). All per the official Terms & Conditions (updated 23 Jan 2025).
Who typically chooses TAMS 3?
- Farm enterprises prioritising high grant aid with CAPEX (or farm finance). We’ll map eligible items to your bill of quantities and reference-costs.
3) Export Payments for Surplus Electricity (Clean Export Guarantee – CEG)
What it is
If you export electricity, your supplier pays you under the Clean Export Guarantee (CEG) framework. This applies to micro-/mini-generation within ESB Networks limits
Key terms & steps
- Notify ESB Networks via NC6 (≤6 kW single-phase / ≤11 kW three-phase) or NC7 (>6/11 kW up to 50 kW). Your installer submits this
- Smart meter: CEG is typically based on metered export; payments commence after smart meter install and ESBN processing of NC6/NC7. Deemed export rules can apply where a smart meter isn’t yet available
- Payment mechanism: Usually a credit on your electricity bill from your supplier. (Rates are supplier-set and can vary.)
Who typically chooses TAMS 3?
- Sites with daytime surplus (seasonal loads, low weekend usage) or roof capacity > daytime demand.
4) Accelerated Capital Allowance (ACA) — 100% Year-1 Allowance
What it is
A tax incentive allowing 100% first-year capital allowance on qualifying energy-efficient equipment listed on SEAI’s Triple E Register. Widely used for PV and associated equipment that meets eligibility.
Key terms (current)
- Available for qualifying energy-efficient equipment used in your trade and on the Triple E Register at time of purchase
- Current legislative sunset: expenditure incurred on or before 31 Dec 2025 (subject to Budget/Finance Act changes). Always confirm with your tax adviser.
Who typically uses ACA?
- CAPEX/Loan buyers seeking faster tax relief vs standard capital allowances.
How these supports interact with funding models
- Upfront CAPEX / Loan: You (the owner) typically claim NDMG, CEG, and ACA (if eligible). We show net-of-grant and post-tax cashflows.
- Solar-as-a-Service: We own/operate during term; we factor any applicable grant/incentive into your fixed service fee.
- PPA: We own/operate; you pay €/kWh. Export usually sits with the asset owner unless otherwise agreed. We reflect incentives in the PPA tariff.
What we handle for you
- Eligibility check (NDMG / TAMS 3 / CEG feasibility)
- Applications & evidence packs (SEAI / DAFM), including ESBN NC6/NC7
- Tax pack for your accountant (ACA, Triple E references)
- Board-ready proposal: CAPEX vs OPEX/PPA, with grants and tax modeled
